There are four entrance classes for students to the annual competition, allowing teams with varying levels of resources or time to take part and prolong the design and build processes over a number of years.

In the main competition teams with the completed vehicle compete and prove how well their car is performed and how strong their teams are, by going through both static and dynamic tests:

 Static Tests:
The student teams have to „ sell“ the judges their engineering design (150 points);
Defend their calculated production costs (100 points) 
Present a business-plan (75 points)

 Dynamic Tests:   
  On the race track the prototypes must prove their capabilities concerning

  - Acceleration (75 points)

 - Skidpad (75 points)

 - Handling (100 points)

 - Endurance (325 points)

 - Fuel-efficiency (100 points)

 

 While just only one team can be an overall winner, many teams in different nominations deserve recognition and get additional prizes and awards.
